Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen at The Institute of Light

OPENED 197 DAYS AGO

Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen is a new residency for Zoe Adjonyoh, now open at The Institute of Light in London Fields.

Zoe’s modern West African food has been thrilling Londoners at Pop Brixton since 2010, and now it’s time for her to settle among the other great restaurants in this part of London.

The Spot:

This is happening at The Insititute of Light, which is a cinema, bar, restaurant and all around fun place to hang out.

The Food:

Zoe’s aim is to familiarise people with West African flavours, and she’s bringing some classics from Pop Brixton along with some fresh dishes to this new location. New dishes include small plates, designed to be eaten with your hands, such as oto cakes with soft boiled egg; cassava crisps with scotch bonnet salsa; kenkey (a maize dumpling) with sardines and Zoe’s signature Ghanaian red red bean stew.

Larger dishes include jollof chicken with lettuce wraps, goat shocko (a stew) and plantain pork belly.

The Drinks:

Drinks are available from the bar at The Institute of Light.

In a Nutshell:

We love Zoe’s food and can’t wait to try the new dishes she’s developed for this change of location. Zoe said of the move, ‘Being back in East London feels like a true homecoming for us. It’s where Zoe’s Ghana Kitchen began, at the Hackney Wicked arts festival, and to think how much we’ve grown since a home-made sign saying ‘Zoe’s peanut butter stew’ is mind-blowing. I’m a huge admirer, and long-time patron, of the IOL, and to be laying down roots in such a wonderful space is a real honour. We’ve been working at creating loads of new and exciting dishes, but getting people familiar with African flavours is still what we’re all about. It’s been an amazing journey so far, and I can’t wait to get started on the next adventure’.
