The Soak is the latest spot to join Victoria’s vibrant food scene, serving all things soaked, fermented, steeped and brined.

The Spot:

Housed in a Victorian Grade II listed building, The Soak exudes a historical grandeur in appearance and embodies the charm and style of bygone convivial Parisian bistros. Enticing clientele from all walks of life, The Soak offers not only a unique food and drinks menu, but also a musical experience hosting live DJ sets and acoustic sessions into the early hours.

The Food:

A menu devised by head chef Chris Zachwieja, The Soak introduces Victoria to the soaking techniques of the chef’s childhood, creating intense yet balanced flavours through soaking, fermenting, steeping and brining. Highlights include poulet noir with morels, asparagus and a wild mushroom kombucha, and wood pigeon with pearl barley koi, anchovies, flat turnip and fermented mooli.

The Drinks:

Drinks include The Soak’s signature ‘soaked’ cocktails, a range of craft beers, a carefully curated list of New World, organic, biodynamic wines and of course, The Soak house kombucha – after all, what would a restaurant inspired by fermentation be if it didn’t serve a top-notch kombucha?

The Damage:

Main dishes range from £10 to £30; wines cost around £7-£9, beers are £5 and cocktails range from £10 to £12.

The Soak is a refreshing new concept to hit the Victoria food scene with soaking as its sole inspiration, serving effortlessly from day to night.

Celebrating the opening, The Soak is currently offering 20% off their food menu from May 1st to July 31st.
