Talli Joe

OPENED April 26th, 2016

Bombay-style cooking at Dishoom and the meaty small plates menu at Brixton’s Kricket have led an Indian food renaissance of late, and Talli Joe (‘Tipsy Joe” in Indian) is the latest fresh face. Launched by a first time Indian restaurateur with an ex Michelin-starred Benares Chef, Sameer Taneja, Talli Joe is an intriguing new proposition: it sounds a clever mix of high quality and good fun.

With a tempting ‘half plates and full drinks’ ethos, the 96 cover space will serve a menu of Bengali delights. Expect South Indian spiced shrimp, pork stews served with a savory rice cake and the classic Bengali desert of thin crepes filled with coconut, jaggery and rum. From the drinks list, the traditional South Indian Gimlet will be the one to try – a turmeric infused gin cocktail plus plenty of Chai.

What’s close? Shuang Shuang, a new type of do-it-yourself Asian hotpot
