Rüya

OPENED 70 DAYS AGO

Anatolian cuisine arrives in Mayfair: Rüya is open now.

It’s the first location in a major European city for restaurant group Doğuş Restaurant Entertainment and Management.

The Spot:

The restaurant has been designed by Conran & Partners and seats 110, with intricate tiling, warm colours and a large central light fixture. There are several options for dining here – a private dining room, a chef’s table, a bar area and a more formal main dining room.

The Food:

Inspired by restaurateur Umut Özkanca’s Istanbul heritage, Chef Patron Colin Clague’s menu features dishes and flavours from a variety of Anatolian regions. Dishes include 24-hour slow-cooked short rib, served with Turkish chili BBQ glaze and spiced Konya chickpea purée, and two-cheese pide (a pizza-esque topped flatbread) from the Black Sea with slow-cooked egg.

There is also home-made bread, cold salads and starters including oysters with tomato, preserved lemon and pomegranate. Desserts include a watermelon and raki ice, mint granite and rose jelly, and cikolatalı türk kahvesi (dark chocolate & salted caramel kibbeh and dark chocolate sorbet with Turkish coffee cream & cardamom).

The Drink:

Cocktails are also inspired by the Anatolian region, and include the Ottoman Old Fashioned (Bourbon, tobacco and dates, with bitters) and the Black Sea (rye whiskey, cognac, vermouth, raisin, cinnamon and bitters). We’re going for the summery-sounding Serefe, which contains gin, yellow chartreuse, pineapple, apricot, pandan leaf, lime.

The Damage:

Main dishes range from £9 to £34, with starters and salads from £6 to £14. Cocktails start at £12.

In a Nutshell:

We’re excited to welcome Anatolian cuisine to London, and to try some of this extensive menu – cocktails included. Restaurant owner Umut Özkanca says, ‘We are excited to provide memorable experiences for our guests and welcome everyone to discover our fantastic concept in London.’
