Prince of Peckham

OPENED 5 DAYS AGO

Prince of Peckham is a new pub and music venue in Peckham serving street food from White Men Can’t Jerk.

The pub has been renovated by local Clement Ogbonnaya, with the aim of creating a real community space, so there will be regular events and workshops celebrating local culture alongside a strong food and drink lineup.

Prince of Peckham

The Spot:

This used to be The Clayton Arms, a rather neglected boozer on a corner of Clayton Road and Peckham High Street. It’s a large site, with capacity for 300 and the plan is to host live music and events which tap into the roots of the local area. Inside it’s cosy with lots of golden tones and giant, sparkly chandeliers.

The Food:

White Men Can’t Jerk are in residency with their jerk chicken and Caribbean flavours. There’s a Caribbean-inspired Sunday roast and something called Hot Mess Mondays, which involves all the wings you can eat, served alongside scotch bonnet jam. Elsewhere on the menu, it’s a Caribbean-British mashup with jerk sausage rolls, curried mutton shepherd’s pie and jerk sausages with mash and onion gravy.

The Drinks:

It’s a pub, so expect the usual beers, wine and spirits but don’t let them distract you away from the selection of rum-based cocktails, which are designed to compliment the jerk. That would just be silly…

In a Nutshell:

This is a new community pub for Peckham that aims to celebrate both the old and new, staying up to date with the latest street food and drinks, yet staying true to the roots of the area with a vibrant lineup of music and cultural events.
