Pretty Cuppa

OPENED

Pretty Cuppa is the latest coffee and pastry shop opening on Brick Lane. Nestled discreetly on the corner of one of London’s most sentimental streets, close to the nearby Truman Brewery, Pretty Cuppa is born of an adorable family of Italians and is very much akin to being invited into your Mum’s newly refurbished kitchen. If your Mum is very stylish, that is.

The menu is fresh and simple with freshly made juices including carrot juice, apple juice and orange juice and there’s loads of pastries baked in a French style as well as a daily selection of fresh fruits. Perfectly prepared coffees (lets face it, you can’t afford to get coffee wrong in London anymore) are the cafe’s pride and joy, as well as a daily changing granola. Come lunch there’s toasted breads and artisan sandwiches as well as a freshly made warming soup of the day. It was pumpkin on the menu when we popped in, and soon, lots of other exciting home cooked foods are being tried out as the cafe heads towards its’ first month in business.

The decor is as non-fuss as the goods on sale. White washed walls reveal Pretty Cuppa branding and are the backdrop to a few tables for two. Around the edge, high stools are perfectly positioned for people watching on a Brick Lane market day. Elegantly British, the tableware is ornate and patterned with flowers, milk for cereal comes in big sharing jugs and the juices arrive in glasses designed for 50s-era diners. These little touches all add to a classic, romantic coffee shop experience.

East London keeps on attracting these little gems, for which we’re incredibly thankful,
