Parrillan

OPENED 70 DAYS AGO

Parrillan opens at Coal Drops Yard in King’s Cross.

Parrillan is from the team behind Barrafina – London’s top-notch Spanish tapas spot – but has an entirely different focus allowing you to grill your own meat, seafood and vegetables.

Parrillan - grill with vegetables and meat

The Spot:

Inspired by Mediterranean-style dining with English weather in mind, Parrillan is a terrace bar-meets-grill-restaurant partially covered with a contemporary glass roof. Each table comes with bespoke mini charcoal grills, also known as parrillas (the clue is in the name), where you can cook your own meal with a little help from Barrafina’s executive chef, Angel Zapata Martin.

The Food:

Before the main event, you can tuck into treats such as DIY pan con tomate (toasted sourdough served with garlic, olive oil and seasoned chopped tomatoes, to assemble yourself), already-grilled vegetables (Escalivada), anchovies and Barrafina best-seller Banderillas (customized skewers with pickles). After that, chef Martin has done all the prepping for you to grill your own 50-day aged rump steak, scallops, lamb’s kidneys, artichokes and vegetable parrelada, paired with patatas and a selection of salsas.

The Drinks:

Parrillan offers a Spanish wine list as well as Estrella Galicia beer, sherries, and gin and tonics.

The Damage:

Starters and sides are priced at around £4-£12; mains range between £7 and £18.

In a Nutshell:

Saving the best for last, Parrillan is the final restaurant to arrive at King’s Cross new dining and shopping development – this calls for a Coal Drops Yard crawl.
