On The Dak

OPENED 261 DAYS AGO

On The Dak is a Korean fried chicken restaurant from Linda Lee of On The Bab, now open in Covent Garden.

Chicken is served in a signature range of sauces, with lots of sides and condiments.

The Spot:

This is right on Monmouth Street on Seven Dials, at the heart of Covent Garden.

The Food:

Dak means chicken in Korean, so that’s what this place is all about. It’s classic Korean fried chicken with its sweet and sticky sauce, plus chicken soup noodles, chicken with rice or salad, and chicken dumplings.

There’s a choice of sauces with that fried chicken, including sweet soy (their signature sauce), then spicy Seoul style and ‘soft garlic.’ We the latter means it’s not going to blow your head off with garlic flavour? Prob for the best if you’ve got afternoon meetings…

The noodle soup (‘chitang’) comes with shredded chicken, herbs and seaweed, and the rice dishes (chibab) with kimchi and cheese. We also love that you can have chicken dumplings on the side because why not add more chicken?

The Damage:

Korean fried chicken comes in small (£5.50), medium (£11) or large portions (£17). Sides are £3.20 and condiments/accompaniments like kimchi £2.80.

In a Nutshell:

We always like to give you a heads up when these new chains kick off as we think they make great lunch options, and Korean fried chicken is always a winner.

Linda Lee said of the opening, ‘Koreans love chicken, whether it’s fried, in soups, on noodles or with rice, and in all my restaurants chicken dishes are among the most popular. So I wanted to bring all my favourite chicken dishes, plus some new ones, under one roof.’
