Old Compton Brasserie

OPENED 106 DAYS AGO

Soho welcomes a new all-day restaurant and bar, Old Compton Brasserie.

As the first exclusive soft launch night on September 4 has sold out, we’re extending the soft launch evenings to Sept 5, 6 and 7, including 50% off modern British fare. To reserve a spot, call 020-7434-2214 and quote Just Opened.

Old Compton Brasserie - Seabass

The Spot:

Living up to its name, Old Compton Brasserie is situated on Soho’s Old Compton Street, and while the neighbourhood is as diverse as ever, the brasserie pays tribute to its rich history. In design, that translates to bespoke pieces of art and pop paintings of iconic names, and a cocktail menu inspired by Soho’s most famous legends like Paul Raymond, Ronnie Scott and Soho Pam.

The Food:

With a focus on seasonality, the menu combines British cuisine with brasserie-style favourites. Mornings start with eggs benedict, chia pudding with cherries and pistachio, or a hearty breakfast pot pie. There’s more comfort fare as the day unfolds, including pigs in blankets with mash and onion jus, truffle-roast chicken, and kedgeree Scotch eggs with curried mayo. But because this is a modern brasserie, vegan dishes are in no short supply. Think baked sweet potato in spiced chickpea stew, broad bean risotto and a plant-based burger with shiitake bacon.

The Drinks:

Curated by acclaimed mixologist Matt Whiley (the man behind multiple award-winning bars in London), cocktails are truly inventive with bold flavours and unique ingredients. An ode to the ‘King of Soho,’ The Paul Raymond is made with champagne, strawberry, white chocolate and verJus. It’s also served in a faux fur jacket flute, which is totally unnecessary but also very fun. Another highlight is the Regina Fong, a mix of Ciroc apple, pear purée, lemon juice and ginger ale, topped with black pear foam – because why not?

The Damage:

Starters are priced at around £5-£10, main dishes range from £12 to £24.

While Old Compton Brasserie brings cutting edge cocktails and contemporary British fare to Soho, the setting is welcoming and relaxed, drawing you in at any time of the day.

Please note: you can also book a table on their other soft launch days (August 29-September 3), but September 4th is exclusively reserved for JOL readers.
