Night Tales Bohemia Place

OPENED July 13th, 2018

London’s celebrated pop-up Night Tales finds a permanent home in Hackney’s Bohemia Place.

Occupying two large railway arches in Hackney Central, Night Tales Bohemia Place is their biggest venture yet, complete with an outdoor garden, a nightclub with DJs and live acts, two bars and of course, food. Night Tales might just make it on our guide to Hackney, as the area’s best all-round destination.

The Spot:

Set out to bring live music, great food and experimental bar culture to one place, founders Lottie Campbell, Jamie Rule and Louis Hyams started Night Tales as a pop-up throughout the city. Following the success of the versatile ventures, the team wanted to launch a permanent home in London – Night Tales Bohemia Place was born.

Night Tales Bohemia Place - Fat Baby

Night Tales Bohemia Place is first and foremost a music destination, but the large Japanese garden outside is just as much the attraction. The sun-drenched terrace features a food court with casual seating, day beds and private booths, while a waterfall(!) provides the backdrop for the garden bar.

The Food:

Night Tales has brought in brand new Japanese eatery Fat Baby, and the already-popular Sons of Slice for their new home. Taking inspiration from Tokyo’s izakayas, Fat Baby serves a line-up of Japanese classics, including yakitori (chicken skewers), pork gyozas and fried quail with garlic chips, while Sons of Slice focuses on New York-style pizza slices. All-time favourites include the “First Base” with Fior di latte Mozzarella and the “Big Red” with Neapolitan salami, alongside a rotating selection of inventive pizzas such as the “Buffalo Soldier” with chicken thighs and blue cheese.

The Drinks:

Aiming to complement Fat Baby’s Japanese dishes, Asahi Super Dry is your go-to bar for Japanese beers, while The Agave Bar specialises in mezcal, tequila and cocktails. Think the “Paloma Place” with tequila, Amaro Montenegro and grapefruit sherbet, or “The Frozen Hurricane” with Mezcal, Ancho Reyes chilli liqueur and agave ice.

The Damage:

Cocktails cost around £8-£12; beers are £5; food varies between £2 and £15.

With a club, an outdoor garden and food and drink hotspots residing in one location, you could easily spend all day and night at Night Tales Bohemia Place.
