Michelin Announces New Michelin Stars for London Restaurants

Last week Michelin announced which London restaurants would be receiving Bib Gourmands. Today, they brought out the big guns – announcing which restaurants have been awarded Michelin stars.

A Michelin star is awarded for ‘high-quality cooking, worth a stop’, 2 Michelin stars are awarded for ‘excellent cooking, worth a detour’ and three are awarded for ‘exceptional cuisine, worth a special journey.’

The London restaurants receiving Michelin stars this year (for the 2018 guide), are…

New Three Michelin Star Restaurants

Only 5 restaurants in the UK and Ireland have 3 Michelin stars, with 1 restaurant gaining a third star this year – The Araki, a sushi restaurant in Mayfair. Dinner here will set you back £300…

New Two Michelin Star Restaurants

Claude Bosi at Bibendum: This quirky restaurant in the old Michelin building has been awarded two stars for 2018. If they didn’t have any, they’d probably need to move to different premises to avoid embarrassment.

New One Michelin Star Restaurants

La Dame de Pic: A star for this French restaurant at The Four Seasons.

Elystan Street: Phil Howard left The Square and opened Elystan Street in 2016.

Vineet Bhatia London: This Indian restaurant serves a fixed tasting menu, so there are no a la carte choices.

Jamavar: We have some fantastic Indian restaurants in London and Jamavar is up there with the best.

Aquavit: This Scandinavian restaurant in St. James Market has gained a star.

A Wong: We’re thrilled to see one of our favourite Chinese restaurants awarded a star.
