OPENED 364 DAYS AGO

Lebanese restaurant Lazeez Tapas reopens in Mayfair.

Located on the corner of Duke Street and Picton Place, Lazeez Tapas relaunches with a new menu and look, while still bringing a taste of Lebanon to the London dining scene. The Lebanese restaurant resides close to Mayfair’s newly opened Turkish spot, Rüya.

The Spot:

Brought to you by founder Emilio Malik, Lazeez Tapas aims to bring the feel of downtown Beirut to Mayfair, offering shareable dishes in a relaxed setting. Wrapped around the restaurant, the outdoor terrace has been given a new look with plenty of greenery for summer, while you’ll still find the cozy lounge beneath the ground floor, complete with handcrafted furniture and gold tables.

The Food:

Using ingredients sourced from Lebanon, Lazeez Tapas serves wraps, hearty mains and – you guessed it – tapas. Options include Shish Taouk (grilled chicken wrap with garlic sauce), Kafta (minced lamb with yogurt), and lamb skewers. Lazeez Tapas also offers salads and plenty of vegetarian dishes, including grilled aubergine with tahini, mint yogurt with cucumber, and pittas with different hummus dips – and of course, falafel makes a frequent appearance.

The Drinks:

Revamped by Paul Russ – of Michelin-starred L’Atelier de Joel Robuchon – the drinks menu includes cocktails such as the Duke of Mayfair (vodka, Cointreau, mango, orange, cranberry and lime juice) or a classic whiskey old fashioned, alongside Lebanese wines. If you’re looking for something non-alcoholic, Lazeez Tapas has you covered with an inventive selection of mocktails, including the Jallab with molasses syrup, rose water, and raisins.

The Damage:

Wraps cost £11; tapas are around £6-£9; mains vary between £15-£23.

In a Nutshell:

With a menu that offers everything from meaty main courses to vegetarian tapas, Lazeez Tapas is likely to appeal to everyone. Unless of course, you don’t like Lebanese cuisine – but who doesn’t enjoy pitta breads with copious amounts of hummus?
