Kricket Brixton

OPENED 150 DAYS AGO

Indian restaurant Kricket has returned to its roots in Brixton to open a permanent site.

The new menu continues their focus on creating classic Indian flavours with seasonal British produce.

The Spot:

We all know that Kricket began in a shipping container in Brixton in 2015, and now they’re back with a permanent restaurant. There’s room for 40 here, with a separate archway bar.

The Food:

There’s plenty of the Indian-inspired street food snacks that we all know and love but there are several new dishes to try. Pig head vindaloo is served with artichoke tarka and pickled shallot, while oysters are made into pakora, and served with rhubarb chutney and thecha (a spicy condiment).

Fans of the Kricket classics won’t be disappointed, however, as you’ll find that incredible Keralan fried chicken, the samphire pakora and bhel puri are all on the menu too.

The Drinks:

You need to try the cocktails here; we especially love their Samphire Margarita with reposado tequila, samphire and lime, and their Dark Matter, which mixes spiced rum with mango, agave, red peppercorn and chilli.

The Damage:

Plates are for sharing, and range from £4–13. Cocktails are £9.

In a Nutshell:

These guys have been expanding rapidly since their first home in Brixton – they have a site in Soho and one upcoming in White City in addition to this new South London opening, but it’s always nice to see a restaurant return home. Co-founders Rik Campbell and Will Bowlby say, ‘The Brixton community were our very first customers and embraced our approach to Indian cooking right from the start. We look forward to serving them our evolved menu of Indian street food and drinks in our new and permanent home.’
