ICHIBUNS

OPENED 13 DAYS AGO

ICHIBUNS is a Japanese restaurant combining fast food with luxury ingredients.

We have to say this restaurant name did make us giggle. Do they need to see a doctor for that?

The Spot:

ICHIBUNS is on Wardour Street, so right in the middle of the action. The interior is what they call ‘Tokyo rock and roll’, which means bright, loud and in yer face.

The Food:

Their thing is fast food with a luxury twist, so the burgers are made with Wagyu, 28-day-aged Angus beef and truffle oil. We have to say we’re not fans of the latter (it doesn’t taste anything like the real thing, daahling) but these burgers are bound to be popular.

They’re also doing ramen, as well as spring rolls with ingredients like Snow Crab and more of that Wagyu beef with cheese. Yes, that’s a Wagyu cheeseburger spring roll. There’s also a panko crusted fish finger sandwich, which has to be worth a go, along with the chicken katsu.

Desserts are profiteroles filled with green tea (why not?) alongside a range of super indulgent shakes with ice cream and all sorts of other tasty bits inside (ichibits?) including marinated cherries.

The Drinks:

The most interesting thing here is the ‘sealed to go’ cocktails, which come pre-mixed in paper cartons with sealed lids. You can grab ‘em and be on your way, for those times when only a cocktail on the move will do.

The Damage:

A bowl of ramen is £9-11 and a burger (or other sandwich) £10.50-11.50. Those spring rolls are £4-5. Desserts are £3-5 and non-alcoholic shakes a fiver.

In a Nutshell:

This is fast food with a cheeky twist and we have to say that, despite ourselves, we’re going to have to try that cheeseburger spring roll.
