Halloumi Pop-up at 100 Hoxton

OPENED 12 DAYS AGO

This pop-up has now ended.

One Hundred Hoxton is hosting a week-long halloumi pop-up, in collaboration with the Cyprus Tourist Board, from 13th–19th November.

There’s even halloumi ice cream.

The Spot:

This is an all-day restaurant in Hoxton serving brunch, lunch, dinner and afternoon tea. Oh, and now a menu based entirely around a single cheese.

The Food:

There’s a lot of halloumi on this menu, guys. How about some halloumi and cauliflower fritters with lime pickle yoghurt? Or a chargrilled halloumi flatbread with butternut squash and dukkah?

You can also have the halloumi crumbed, but will the results be as good as the halloumi fries at Oli Baba’s, who make some of London’s best street food?

Finally, providing you’re not too cheesed off by this point, there’s halloumi ice cream, described as ‘the best halloumi ice cream you will ever taste’ (perhaps the only halloumi ice cream you will ever taste?).

You can order dishes individually or go mad and have the full tasting experience, which involves – yes – every single dish on the menu.

The Drinks:

Chad Canning, who formerly worked at Ottolenghi’s Nopi, has come up with two Cypriot-inspired cocktails for the pop up and, reassuringly, neither of them contain halloumi.

Choose from a harissa bloody Mary – we imagine a bit of spice will be essential for a bit of contrast to all that rich cheese – or a coriander and ginger martini.

The Damage:

Dishes range from £6–7 and a cocktail is £8.

In a Nutshell:

This could go either way for the tourist board. Diners will either leave in love with halloumi or put off the stuff for life.
