Flesh & Buns Fitzrovia

OPENED 89 DAYS AGO

Japanese izakaya restaurant Flesh & Buns opens a second site in Fitzrovia.

Covent Garden might be home to the original (proudly labeled as London’s first dedicated bao bun restaurant), Flesh & Buns in Fitzrovia is bigger, better and so much more fun.

The Spot:

Convincing your family and friends to try upscale Japanese pub fare in a small basement isn’t easy, especially when it involves elbowing one another on communal tables. That’s why Flesh & Buns in Fitzrovia features more room with intimate dining options, leather booths and a large open kitchen to keep you entertained.

The Food:

Flesh & Buns has launched a new menu for its second home too, focusing on Japanese and Peruvian cuisine known as Nikkei. That means seafood dishes with spice, including plaice tiradito with truffle ponzu and yuzu yobiko; prawn toban yaki with chilli-garlic butter; and tempura plaice with honey and rocoto pepper sauce. Oh, and did we mention the new wood smoker? Say hello to chilli-miso smoked brisket or duck with coal-roasted peach chutney – the perfect pair to a basket of bao buns.

The Drinks:

Flesh & Buns takes its passion for Peru’s signature cocktail to a whole new level. Tables are fitted with “press for Pisco” buttons, bringing you various takes on Piscos made with matcha and Hakuto (peach jelly). Don’t worry, their famous frozen yuzu Margaritas are available too.

The Damage:

A meal at Flesh & Buns costs around £40 per person.

In a Nutshell:

Flesh & Buns Fitzrovia might seem like an over-the-top theatrical experience, but its unique Japanese meets Peruvian dishes are the real showstoppers here.
