Flat Iron Square

OPENED October 20th, 2016

‘BEST OPENINGS OF 2016’ WINNER

Flat Iron Square, a new food, drink and music hub, has just opened a stone’s throw from London Bridge underground.

Joining a plethora of heavyweight restaurants and bars in Central London, not forgetting Borough Market, the forward-thinking development is an exciting prospect for Londoners pining for something fresh.

The hub occupies a 40,000 sq ft. space surrounding six railway arches, flanked by Flat Iron Square, Union Street, O’Meara Street and Southwark Street. Curated and developed by Benj Scrimgeour, the evolving space emulates the feel of European urban markets and brings music, food, and bars together under one proverbial roof.

Indie buffs would undoubtedly know Ben Lovett, one-quarter of Mumford & Sons. His live music venue Omeara brings a diverse range of programmes to Flat Iron Square, including indie club nights, comedy, burlesque, and magic.

The food and drink line-up is just as exciting. It includes South West Social Club, who have brought Sylvia, their 1975 Air Stream land yacht, and first street food outlet. There are freshly baked goods by sourdough specialists Burnt Lemon Bakery, inventive salads by Savage Salads and stone-baked pizzas by Baz & Fred.

Brunch-lovers can check out Where The Pancakes Are (one of our favourites so far), or hit up Lupins for an all-day Californian brunch. The more adventurous can choose from the huge range of international options. Enjoy Portuguese tapas and wine by Bar Duoro, updated Spanish fare like Spanish pork belly baos by EDū, or award-winning Mexican street food from Carnita Carnitas.

There’s also handmade Turkish dumplings by Manti and contemporary Eastern Mediterranean street food by Laffa. Ekachai serves up classic Thai, Malay, and Cantonese street food, alongside handmade dim sum and small plates, while Tatami Ramen is dishing out award-winning sushi and ramen, which even includes two vegan options. Completing the line-up is Flea, a Sunday market selling vintage, vinyl, art, craft and more.

With so much going on, you’ll need a place to kick back and unwind.
