FILTH

OPENED 16 DAYS AGO

Plant-based burger pop-up FILTH arrives inside the Tea Building in Shoreditch.

Bang on time for Veganuary, FILTH is situated within the Dirty Burger site for the coming three months.

The Spot:

Following the success of their first chapter at Tate Modern, celebrity chef Gizzi Erskine and nutritionist Rose Ferguson are all set to give this city’s booming vegan scene some healthy competition. And yes, this patty promises to be healthy too, jam-packed with protein (more than the conventional burger) and nothing but sustainably sourced ingredients.

The Food:

So what is this so-called, science-driven beauty actually made of? The signature F!LTH Burger features black beans, black quinoa, non-GMO soy mince and a mix of unami paste, which is then topped with crispy fried onions and two different sauces (beetroot ketchup and roasted garlic aioli) before it’s sandwiched between a beetroot-infused bun. She’s ready for her Instagram-debut, that’s for sure.

If you love a bit of spice, there’s also a Seoul Burger served with kimchi, pear bulgogi sauce, and gochujang aioli, sitting in between a bright orange bun made with carrot and turmeric. Sides include all the necessities, including salads and sweet potato fries (sprinkled with seawood miso dust, which apparently is very addictive).

The Drinks:

Drinks are likely to hit the spot too. FILTH serves thickly made, plant-based shakes made with Booja Booja ice cream, including flavours such as salted chocolate cacao nib, and strawberry with acai.

The Damage:

Burgers are priced at around £7.50-£8; sides are £4 and milkshakes cost £5.

In a Nutshell:

You know that happy food dance you do when you’re eating something seriously good? We have a feeling FILTH might just ignite that inevitable – slightly embarrassing – moment. Then again, Shoreditch is practically spoiled for choice when it comes to vegan food, so it might be a tough crowd to please.
