Evelyn’s Table at The Blue Posts

OPENED 9 DAYS AGO

Evelyn’s Table is the long-awaited, intimate dining bar in the basement of the recently refurbished pub and cocktail bar, The Blue Posts, open today from 5pm.

It comes from the team behind The Palomar and The Barbary, so it’s pretty exciting stuff, and we reckon there’s going to be some hot competition for those seats.

The Spot:

The whole seating area consists of an 11-seat marble countertop in the former beer cellar of The Blue Posts, with two side tables bringing the seat count up to 15.

The 18th Century pub (The Blue Posts) on the ground floor, was restored last year, and there’s a separate cocktail bar upstairs.

Food at the Barbary in London.

The Food:

Nacho Pinilla, formerly of The Barbary, Copita and gastropub The Bull & Last is in charge of the kitchen.

There are around 10 dishes per day on the regularly changing menu – it’ll depend on what’s in season and available. Some example dishes include cuttlefish ragout, made with tender, long-simmered cuttlefish; rock salt fillet of beef and bone marrow; polenta with artichokes and brussels sprouts with oyster sauce and sesame.

They’re calling it modern European, and we’re expecting some fireworks, given the quality of the food at both The Palomar and The Barbary.

The Drinks:

Before your meal, you can wait in The Blue Posts or the first-floor bar, called The Mulwray. The former will suit you if you’re into independently brewed cask ales, ciders and lager, while the latter is all about the cocktails.

In a Nutshell:

The opening of this one was slightly delayed and we’ve been on tenterhooks waiting for the green light to tell you it’s open. These guys are excellent restaurateurs so we have no doubt these are going to be some of the hottest seats in town. We’ll fight you for them.
