EartH Kitchen

OPENED 68 DAYS AGO

Evolutionary Arts Hackney (EartH) introduces its new restaurant, named fittingly, EartH Kitchen.

Previously known as Hackney Arts Centre, the fully restored EartH is now home to a concert hall and neighbourhood-style restaurant.

The Spot:

Founder and Village Underground owner Auro Foxcroft has ambitious plans for EartH, bringing in no other than St. John’s former executive chef Chris Gillard. The restaurant is situated in the old Savoy cinema, which is now a contemporary-looking space with plenty of natural light thanks to large windows looking over Kingsland Road.

The Food:

Chef Gillard draws inspiration from his experience at St. John to muddy festival fields, creating a menu that highlights seasonal ingredients and creativity. For dinner, EartH Kitchen serves small plates such as griddled mackerel with beetroot and horseradish, pork and duck rillettes on toast, as well as heartier options like slow-roasted lamb breast (with pickled raisins and mint) and griddled ox heart alongside chips. For dessert, expect different and delicious takes on traditional tarts and puddings, including steamed ginger pudding with marmalade butterscotch and vanilla ice cream.

The Drinks:

Complementing the dishes, EartH Kitchen brings you classic cocktails with seasonal ingredients and a wine list created by Toni Castillo (formerly of St. John too).

The Damage:

Small dishes are priced at around £7- £9 and mains cost £14- £18.

In a Nutshell:

EartH Kitchen is offering East London more than just a destination for dinner, promising to provide training from students at Hackney City College and welcoming artists for jazz nights to Sunday DJ sessions.
