Donnelly’s

OPENED 140 DAYS AGO

Donnelly’s takes on a new residency at Bermondsey Bar & Kitchen.

Following the forever-packed pop-ups in Elephant & Castle (Louie Louie) and Soho (The Sun and 13 Canton), Donnelly’s new residency in Bermondsey is a welcome addition for those who missed out on chef James Donnelly’s cooking.

Donnelly's - food spread

The Spot:

Chef Donnelly might have experience in London’s leading restaurants and yes, his pop-ups are critically acclaimed, but he continues to take a decidedly casual approach to his solo ventures. Simple wooden tables fill the space and an open kitchen promises to bring a lively ambiance, creating a restaurant that is accessible to everyone.

The Food:

The menu celebrates British cooking and independent producers, so pork belly comes in from Gloucestershire, fish is sustainably sourced through Henderson Seafood, and vegetables are all seasonal. Dishes are perfectly portioned for sharing, including options such as cod on English green lentils, roasted plaice (served with pickled mushrooms and red wine butter sauce), and roast beetroot and pumpkin (elevated with Beauvale blue cheese and hazelnut vinegar).

Donnelly's - vegetables

The weekend is all about our favourite tradition, bringing you a Sunday roast of 35-day aged Galloway beef, roast herb-fed chicken with all the trimmings, as well as a vegetarian roast with mushroom puff pastry and parsnip purée.

The Drinks:

Take a seat at the bar for a drink by Bermondsey Bar & Kitchen, paired with a snack from chef Donnelly. Think black pudding scotch eggs, charcuterie and more delights you would rather not share.

The Damage:

Dishes range between £6.5 and £14.

In a Nutshell:

Sunday roast might be the star of the show for some, but let’s not forget about dessert. Salted chocolate tart with boozy port-poached blackberries or buttermilk panna cotta with rhubarb and gingerbread crumb? Who am I kidding, we’re getting both.
