Darby’s

OPENED 28 DAYS AGO

The team behind London hotspots The Dairy and Sorella launch a new restaurant in Embassy Gardens: Darby’s is now open.

Brought to you by husband and wife Robin and Sarah Gill, Darby’s is a destination for oysters, Irish-influenced dishes and strong drinks.

The Spot:

Inspired by Robin’s jazz musician father who toured throughout America, Darby’s transports you to Manhattan in the 1950s with sophisticated interiors, a dedicated oyster bar and a roster of DJs playing old-school rock ‘n’ roll. And just like the critically acclaimed spots in Clapham, Darby’s is driven by local produce from trusted suppliers.

The Food:

Robin Gill is joined by chef Dean Parker in the kitchen, bringing you homely breakfasts such as Darby’s Full Irish, celeriac remoulade bagels and Mangalitsa bacon slab on sourdough. For dinner, explore a selection of Ireland’s finest Dooncastle oysters, seafood and grilled dishes including cod on the bone, beef with Worcester and mustard, or pig with caramelised apple glaze. End your night on a high with caramelized croissant gelato and chocolate mousse – Darby’s might as well be called heaven.

The Drinks:

Led by Wesley Yeung (of The Dairy), Darby’s serves classics with a twist such as Mulligan’s Margarita made with Ban Poitin (a potato based Irish spirit) and the Spud Sour. Of course, there is Guinness and Champagne too.

The Damage:

Snacks range from £3 to £27; oysters are £2.75-£3; and mains are priced at around £22-£30.

In a Nutshell:

With Sorella receiving a Michelin Bib Gourmand and The Dairy consistently drawing in the Clapham crowd, Darby’s is one of the most exciting restaurant openings in London right now.
