Crispin

OPENED 57 DAYS AGO

Spitalfields welcomes a new day and night destination, Crispin.

Owners Dominic Hamdy and Oliver Hiam have a thing for specialty, day-time concepts – they own the Borough Market-based scotch egg company and coffee spot Lundenwic. Now, the dynamic duo delve into the night-time scene with Crispin.

The Spot:

Located right next to Old Spitalfields Market, Crispin is housed inside a unique, geometric glass building. Whether you think it looks like an origami-folded kite or a bird, there’s no denying it stands out between the surrounding old East End architecture.

The Food:

Crispin serves simple, seasonally-driven dishes by day, and adds bar snacks and cocktails to the menu by night. If you’re an early riser, you can enjoy coconut milk porridge, a hot cheddar toastie with chilli jam, or smoked salmon on sourdough. For dinner, expect shareable delights such as pork belly with curried cauliflower or roast vitelotte potatoes tossed in mustard crème fraîche.

Did we mention brunch? Yes, there’s that too, and while the options might be limited, you don’t need anything more than waffles with poached apricots and candied pecans, roasted figs with whipped feta, and merguez sausages.

The Drinks:

Crispin offers a rotating wine list, alongside cocktails and lager and pale ale on tap. Oh, and coffee by Assembly Roast, until it’s socially acceptable to drink something stronger.

The Damage:

Dishes range from £5 to £16.

In a Nutshell:

While Crispin might seem like a simple, counter-service spot, the menu highlights local produce and tempting little treats that are far from simple. And, they are offering 50% off food and £1 coffee for their soft launch until Sunday 26th August.
