Camden Assembly

OPENED September 15th, 2016

‘BEST OPENINGS OF 2016’ WINNER

Camden Assembly, on Chalk Farm Roadhas just been added to the ever-evolving portfolio of The Columbo Group. It promises to be one of North London’s best new restaurants.

The Columbo Group was founded by Steve Ball and Riz Shaikh in 2006. Of late it appears to be an association with a magic touch; success stories ranging from Phonox, XOYO and The Blues Kitchen. With a unique approach to business, the duo have an acute comprehension of Londoners’ aversion to bland offerings and desire for quality food, drink and music all under one roof.

Camden Assembly was previously Barfly; a stalwart of the live music scene in the deteriorating musical landscape of Camden. The renowned indie music venue has been renovated and relaunched as the a new home for live music in North London. There has been a lot of commotion and chatter about the direction the business will take the venue.

On that, The Columbo Groups head of music, Andy Peyton, said “the venue will have bands generally seven days a week but will consciously cover a wide spectrum of genres, while focusing on upcoming acts.”

The 400 capacity venue will offer a programme of nightly live music from emerging and established talent. Upstairs will be the same as Barfly in terms of layout; with a stage and freshly installed sound and lights. Following The Jazz Café’s reopening, Camden Assembly is The Columbo Group’s second live music venue to open in Camden.

Following a string of successful pop-ups and an independent restaurant in Dalston, London burger favourites Lucky Chip will take up residence in the kitchen. The menu features all Lucky Chip classics that have seen them become one of the most popular joints in the city.

The best bit, in our humble opinion, is the hospitality deal they run on Thursday; if you work in hospitality and you bring a payslip, you get 50% off drinks. Lets hope all the above helps the creative borough find its rightful place as a vibrant musical hub in the capital once more.
