Bun House Chinatown

OPENED 123 DAYS AGO

Bun House opens a sister site in Chinatown.

A steamed bun staple in Soho, Bun House now also serves its puffed-up, pillowy buns in a bigger space on Lisle Street.

Bun House Chinatown - food spread

The Spot:

Spread across two floors designed in a colonial style, the space sees plenty of natural light from the sliding glass windows, balanced with dark wooden furnishings and elements of brass for a luxury touch. Besides a 16-seat dining space on the ground floor, there’s room for forty more bun enthusiasts upstairs designed for settling down with a feast of Cantonese snacks.

Bun House Chinatown - rice dishes

The Food:

Many of Bun House’s signature items remain firmly on the menu – the pork belly pig bun, the cumin-spiked lamb and the crowd-pleasing custard-filled bun – but Chinatown welcomes a handful of newcomers too. There are rice dishes featuring scallion chicken and chilli-marinated egg, street food-style snacks such as curried fish balls and rice noodle rolls, as well as two brand new buns. Take your pick of beef brisket, or a brioche bun packed with pineapple to give custard some healthy competition.

The Drinks:

Expect craft beers flown in from Hong Kong breweries (Moonzen and Young Master), as well as tea-infused cocktails and cold-brewed teas.

The Damage:

Buns are priced at around £2.5 while small dishes range between £2 and £6.

In a Nutshell:

Just when you think you’ve made a mental note of what you’ll be ordering, Bun House throws a limited edition special into the mix: Easter Bunny Bun, anyone? Bunny ears, a fluffy tail and a belly full of orange and dark chocolate – how can we say no that.
