Bang Bang Oriental

OPENED 72 DAYS AGO

See our first look video tour of Bang Bang Oriental here.

Bang Bang Oriental is a gigantic food hall stuffed with East and South East Asian cafes, now open in Colindale.

The food hall, which is on the old Oriental City site, contains 33 different ‘kiosks’ serving loads of different cuisines. To be honest, you could spend a week eating your way around this place so get those stretchy waistbands ready.

The Spot:

This is way up north so if you’re up that way, then you’re very lucky indeed. The idea was to create a massive food hall reminiscent of those in South East Asia, which are bustling, full of people grabbing a quick bite to eat from one of the many stalls or cafes inside.

The Food:

There’s so much here that it’s hard to know where to start. The kiosks are serving the food of China, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and Japan (plus more) although there is a definite focus on China. Some of the restaurants inside are well thought of, too, so this isn’t a case of quantity over quality.

Wonderful Patisseries have brought their Instagram-friendly matcha soft serve ice cream, piled high into fish shaped cones, while Four Seasons have settled in with their lacquered Cantonese roast duck. There’s Taiwanese street food, including everyone’s favourite steamed buns, or bao; yakitori from Japan; bibimbap from Korea; dim sum; katsu curry; dumplings; patisserie… the list goes on and on.

The Drinks:

Chatime are serving their bubble tea – which is super fun if you’ve never had it – balls of chewy tapioca float in flavoured teas, to be sucked up through a giant straw (a lot nicer than it sounds). Citropia Cafe is serving its range of flavoured Earl Grey teas and there are plenty more interesting imported goodies to try. Again, you’re going to need a while to work around this place.

The Damage:

There are too many prices to mention but this is not a high-end dining destination so you’ll be able to try plenty of different dishes, should you want to.

In a Nutshell:

Bang Bang Oriental is a huge place with so many kiosks, we barely know where to begin. Don’t worry though, we will selflessly work our way through them for you.
