BabaBoom Islington

OPENED 131 DAYS AGO

The kebab aficionados behind BabaBoom open their second restaurant in Islington.

After the success of their first location in Battersea, BabaBoom brings its charcoal kebab kitchen and vibrant Middle Eastern flavours to Upper Street in Islington.

The Spot:

The new BabaBoom is similar to their original home in Battersea. Small and cozy, complete with exposed brick and simple wooden furnishings, because plates with inventive kebabs promise to pack the space with colour…

The Food:

BabaBoom marries Middle Eastern spices with seasonal British produce, bringing you a menu that is suitable for meat-eaters and veggie-lovers alike. Served on pillowy Persian flatbreads, kebabs feature everything from 24-hour marinated mutton shoulder to broad bean falafel with whipped feta and coal-fired cauliflower with sweet potato hummus (a must-try).

For brunch, you can tuck into their beloved “good morning” kebabs with lamb merguez sausage and date-glazed bacon, or a veggie variety with grilled Mastelo cheese and chermoula aubergine. If you’re looking for something undeniably sweet, order the cinnamon-dipped eggy bread with caramelised banana, Nutella, clotted cream and honeycomb – heaven is a place on earth, in Islington, to be precise.

The Drinks:

BabaBoom is well known for its frozen margaritas and homemade lemonades, but they’ve also launched their own special brew draught Baba’s Beer – exclusively available at their Islington location, for now.

The Damage:

Kebabs cost around £10-£12; small dishes vary between £2 and £6.50. Baba’s new draught beer is £2.95-£3.25.

London is seeing a rise of Middle Eastern cuisine and vegetarian-focused menus – BabaBoom delivers both, offering a menu that is decidedly on trend.
