Sister Ray Records at Ace Hotel

OPENED 1117 DAYS AGO

In 2014, the thought of actually owning anything tangible that isn’t an iPhone or your toothbrush is an odd one. Near enough everything has “gone online”, but as ever, something will always – has always – slipped the net. Vinyl records, and things like battered, worn old books, have become shrines to a bygone age of consumerism that is as distant now as technology was then.

But thank goodness for vices! They lead to things like Sister Ray Records’s second store in London, a welcome beacon for anyone who still likes to pic music up and play with it. Old and new vinyls will be on sale, as will second-hands, to be spun in most of the Ace Hotel’s guest rooms which are complete with record players.

Play in or take home, Sister Ray Records’s second home in Shoreditch’s Ace Hotel (their first is still on Soho’s Berwick Street) will be both a delightful hipster remedy and a nostalgia trip at once.
