#Rawmen

OPENED 125 DAYS AGO

#Rawmen is a Japanese pop-up from award-winning chef Adam Rawson, open in Islington.

This new two week pop-up from the Japanese food-loving chef focuses on ramen noodles.

The Spot:

#Rawmen is happening at Brewery Below, a working brewery and event space in the basement at Borough Wines and Beers.

The Food:

Appetisers include chicken karaage (Japanese fried chicken) with yuzu mayonnaise and cucumber tsukemono – a pickled cucumber salad. Main courses are a choice of either a pork based ramen broth (Hakata-style) or a soy miso broth (Shoyu miso ramen), which comes topped with all the usual thrills, such as gooey Onsen eggs, roast pork slices, mushrooms or black garlic oil (toppings vary depending on the dish you choose). Both come with pickles and preserved bean sprouts, and there’s a dessert of Adam’s famous milk cheesecake with sansho (a type of peppercorn) and kuromitsu – a Japanese sugar syrup which translates to ‘black honey’. In short, it’s a really exciting menu.

The Drinks:

Drinks are sold separately by the venue, Borough Wines, and will include sake cocktails, Brewery Below beer (brewed on site) and wine by the bottle, carafe or glass.

The Damage:

Since #Rawmen is a pop-up the food comes at a set price of £25, which includes your appetisers, main course, side dishes and dessert. You then pay for drinks on top, sold on the night by Brewery Below.

In a Nutshell:

Adam Rawson won the Young British Foodies Chef of The Year Award in 2015 and has been generally making waves ever since, with his last pop-up, Sakura, selling out super quickly. #Rawmen is another chance to try the food of one of London’s hottest young chefs.
