Greenwood

OPENED 157 DAYS AGO

Greenwood is a pub, restaurant and sports lounge that’s just opened in Victoria.

It’s founded by the ETM Group, the good folk behind ventures like the Aviary and Burdock. Designed by Russell Sage Studio, the look they’ve gone for is college common room and library, circa 1970s. In true homage to the decade, the space is decked out in bright pops of colour, with plenty of retro furnishing and curios to boot. And the finishing touches couldn’t be more eclectic. Think elegant handcrafted chandeliers, overhead planters, as well as flying flamingos, and oh, a zebra head or two. As you do.

Where?

Greenwood is located in the new Nova development, which is also home to Aussie all-day restaurant Timmy Green – and just like its neighbour, it’s one of Central London’s best new restaurant openings.

Sports lounge at Greenwood in Victoria.

Why?

Now, not that London really needs another pub, but Greenwood is so much more than that. Like Trade Union Wapping, it’s a multi-functioning space. Maybe it’s because Londoners are short on time, but one-stop destinations have become something of a trend lately. So what makes Greenwood different?

Well, for starters, they’ve got an entire floor as a designated sports lounge. This means a non-stop showing of all competitive domestic and international sport on five screens, including two mega screens. For those of you who like to get in on the action, there’s a ll table and shuffleboard tables as well. It’s everything you’ve ever wanted under one roof, basically.

What?

It’s a pub, restaurant and sports lounge that just so happens to house a Blink Brow Bar. And don’t be jealous, guys, there’s something for the men too – not that the brow bar is strictly for the girls, of course – in the form of a barbershop. Yep, now we’ve seen it all. This means that after an entire night’s antics, you can still leave looking fresh as a daisy.

Try the…

Signature items include a poached Brixham hake with pak choi and Thai broth. Don’t know about you, but this isn’t exactly what we’d call your average pub grub. And if you’re still riding the posh burger trend, there’s also a spiced king scallop and shrimp burger. Of course, if you’re in the mood for something more “casual,” you can always opt for a stone-baked pizza… As casual as ‘braised pork, celeriac and rosemary oil’ can get, that is.

Wash it down with…

A whole lot of beer. We’re serious. Don’t believe us? Take a look at the four copper beer tanks that overhang the island bar. There are craft brews by Long Arm Brewing Co. as well as rotating guest ales on top. Of course, if beer isn’t quite your style – um, who are you – there are also classic cocktails and a selection of wines.

How much will it cost?

Pizzas are £9.50 while mains are anywhere from £13 to £28 (for the Molasses Old Spot pork chop for 2).

In their own words…

“Located on the first floor, the Sports Lounge at Greenwood boasts five screens showing all competitive domestic and international sport throughout the day and night, plus two Shuffleboard tables.”

In our words…

We’re fans of the multi-functioning space concept, so places like Greenwood are right up our street. Really, who would’ve thought the pub would become the next hottest destination?
