Chai Thali

OPENED 159 DAYS AGO

Chai Thali, Indian street food bar and restaurant, has opened in Camden just in time for Valentine’s Day.

With both traditional dishes and fresh new takes, Chai Thali highlights the best of everything India has to offer.

The Spot:

Chai Thali is the newest restaurant opening in North London, and is located not far from Voodoo Ray’s and Inamo. The 120-cover space is furnished with booths as well as casual tables for two, suitable for those wanting to stop in for coffee or lunch solo. The decor pays homage to India’s culture and its many distinct regions. Each booth is named after a city, and a giant Union Jack painted in the colours of India’s national flag covers one wall.

The Food:

At Chai Thali, the menu takes inspiration from all over India, rather than sticking to one region. From the Dhaaba Murg (Punjab chicken curry) to the Bombay roadside scrambled egg masala, Chai Thali represents the best of India’s culinary diversity.

They also offer an “on the go” lunch menu from noon until 3pm on weekdays; you can choose from quick, affordable meals like the mince lamb burger for £4.

The Drinks:

The drinks list features European classics modified with Indian flavours and ingredients. The Chai Thali Mary, for one, is a spicier version of the Bloody Mary. Coffee and tea lovers might opt for the hot turmeric latte instead – just the thing to warm you up during this chilly February.

In Their Own Words:

“From the chaotic streets of Old Delhi to the bustling metropolis of Mumbai and on south to the glittering seashores of Kerala, Chai Thali’s menu is a collection of the very best of the subcontinent’s kerb side snacks.”

In a Nutshell:

Chai Thali embraces the fun & flair of Indian cuisine. They’ve got a team of Indian chefs on hand, tandoor specialist included; a seasonal menu; and a colourful space suitable for both casual dining and special occasions. We all need a little (or a lot) of spice in our lives every now and then, and Chai Thali is here to provide just that.
