CERU

OPENED December 08th, 2016

CERU sings the bold flavours of Levantine cuisine, the latest region to inspire a new South Kensington restaurant in West London.

Husband and wife team finally celebrate the launch of CERU’s first permanent residence. You may recognise the name from various pop-ups or festivals around town, from Tower Bridge, Fitzrovia through to Cannon Street. After 2 years of years concept testing and neighbourhood exploring, Barry – previously of Yalla Yalla and Black & Blue –and Patricia Hilton are settling down.

Their mission: to stay true to traditional culinary processes of Levantine culture while pushing the boundaries of ingredients and flavour combinations.

The Levant
ceru-1

CERU is very much inspired by the Hiltons’ own adventures through countries and cuisines of the Middle East and Eastern Mediterranean. This particular region, known as The Levant, constitutes a handful of countries, including, but not limited to, Lebanon, Israel, and Turkey.

Individually, they are cuisines with which we are all probably quite familiar. Together, they inspire the Levantine cuisine. To give you an idea of what you might be in for, there are over 20 spices featured on CERU’s daily menu. Take it from us and prepare your mouth for a serious flavour party (perhaps not so serious, but certainly genuine).

From the Masses for the Masses
ceru-2

CERU serves from breakfast through dinner, caters for the healthy and the indulgent, and Greek Pita aside, is entirely gluten free. Traditional welcome offenders include mezze and mains such as houmous, roasted aubergine with chermoula, halloumi and kafta.

Their signature lamb shoulder – slow roasted for 5 hours in a 12-spice rub – makes an ever-popular appearance. While flavours like apple and pomegranate, rose and mint, harissa, lemon and cardamom coax and complement the Levantine menu throughout.

Also part of the CERU offering, an express lunch platter – with a 20-minute service guarantee, or your money back (winning). And Levantine Afternoon Tea – think labneh ‘clotted cream’ and baklava ‘petits fours. Not least a variety of Levantine wines, menu-accompanying cocktails, and a locally brewed, bespoke CERU pale-ale, courtesy of Hop Kettle Brewery.

CERU joins a host of new eateries setting up shop in the SW7 postcode. But promises to take you on a – culinary – journey different to any South Ken has yet to see. To keep up to date with openings in London swing by out Just Opened Map featuring the latest and greatest openings.
