Bubblewrap

OPENED March 08th, 2017

Bubblewrap is a new eatery that’s swiftly taking Instagram by storm with its delightful, freshly made egg waffles that look like giant bubble wrap – only much tastier.

Previously sold at street food markets across London, Bubblewrap waffles now have a permanent home. These sweet egg waffles, hailing from Hong Kong, are wrapped into a cone shape and filled with toppings galore.

The Spot:

This newly opened Central London restaurant sits in the heart of Chinatown, a mere 4-minute walk from Leicester Square tube station. Bubblewrap is a grab-and-go spot with a few spaces to sit – if you’re fast. Conveniently, it’s just a stone’s throw from another specialist, concept-style eatery, HipChips.

The Food:

The Bubblewrap menu features a choice of three waffle flavours – plain, matcha and cocoa – with a tempting array of toppings, sauces and gelato. House favourites include Fudge Lover, Oreo Crunch and Pistachio Time, but it’s yours to put your stamp on… and then devour. And if you’re feeling a little overindulgent, there’s always the option to add some fresh fruit, too. The perfect egg waffle is crispy on the outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside – the ideal winter snack.

The Drinks:

Although the waffles are the main event here, there is a selection of drinks, including milk tea, one of Hong Kong’s most popular beverages. Iced tea and Belvoir fruit drinks, including elderflower and lime and lemongrass, are also available.

The Damage:

One waffle from Bubblewrap costs around £6-£7, depending on the toppings that take your fancy. Early birds can get 2-for-1 on all waffles for the first 2 weeks of opening.

Bubblewrap satisfies all your sweet tooth’s cravings and more; make sure you leave room after dinner and head down to Chinatown for your dessert fix.
